Facial hair transplant
A transplant into sparse or empty areas of the beard and moustache, planned with attention to hair direction and angle.
A beard transplant places grafts, usually taken from the back of the scalp, into sparse or empty areas of the beard and moustache. On the face, hairs emerge at a very shallow angle and in directions that vary by area, so a direction map and the selection of single-hair grafts are decisive in planning. The beard line that suits your facial proportions is drawn together with you at the consultation.
From consultation to month 12

Current beard density, hair calibre and skin structure are examined. The target beard line and density are discussed together.

The beard line is marked on the face and hair directions are drawn for each area. The calibre of the grafts from the back of the scalp is compared with the beard hairs.

After local anaesthesia, grafts are extracted from the back of the scalp. In the beard area they are implanted at a very shallow angle and in the planned direction.

There may be mild swelling and redness of the face in the first days. The transplanted area is washed according to written instructions; shaving should wait for the doctor’s approval.

The scabs come away within the first 10 days; temporary shedding may occur in the first months. New growth generally begins after month 3–4, and for most people the final appearance is assessed around months 9–12.
