FAQ
Frequently asked questions
The answers are general information. For questions specific to you, use the online assessment form or message your coordinator.
Technique and planning
Which technique is right for me?
The technique is chosen by the doctor at your examination, based on the structure of your donor area, the stage of hair loss, your hair type and your expectations. Some plans combine techniques.
How many grafts will I need?
It depends on the recipient area, the target density and donor capacity. The graft estimator gives an approximate range; the exact number is determined at the examination.
Is there an age limit for a hair transplant?
There is no strict age limit; however, at a younger age the tendency of hair loss to progress affects planning. The doctor takes the long-term course into account.
Do I decide on the hairline?
The hairline is drawn by combining your expectations with the doctor’s assessment of your age, facial proportions and donor capacity.
Procedure and recovery
How long does the procedure take?
Depending on the number of grafts and the technique, it usually takes 6–9 hours, with breaks.
What will I feel during the procedure?
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia. There may be a brief stinging sensation while the anaesthetic is given; what is felt afterwards varies from person to person.
When can I go back to work?
Most people with desk-based jobs return within a few days. For physical work, the time may be longer, as advised by the doctor.
Will the transplanted hair fall out?
In the first months, some of the transplanted hairs may shed temporarily. This may be related to the follicles entering a new growth cycle; new growth generally begins after month 3–4.
