Surgical equipment in the operating theatre

Procedure day

Procedure day, hour by hour

The schedule below is an example of an FUE or DHI day. Timings vary with the number of grafts and the technique.

  1. Transfer vehicle

    Transfer from the hotel

Your driver collects you from the hotel lobby. We recommend wearing a comfortable top that buttons or zips at the front.

  2. Blood collection tubes

    Welcome and blood tests

Your coordinator and interpreter welcome you. Blood tests are taken and the consent forms are explained in your language.

  3. Notes on the consultation desk

    Talk with the doctor

Your doctor completes the examination and goes over the plan and your expectations with you once more.

  4. Drawing on a tablet

    Drawing the hairline

The hairline is drawn with a marker and reviewed together in the mirror. Photographic records are taken.

  5. Hands in sterile gloves

    Local anaesthesia and graft extraction

Local anaesthesia is applied to the donor area. Grafts are extracted one by one, separated under the microscope and held in saline solution.

  6. Welcome refreshments

    Lunch break

A light lunch and a short rest.

  7. Close-up of an operating lamp

    Channel opening and implantation

Anaesthesia is applied to the recipient area; depending on the plan, channels are opened or grafts are implanted directly with DHI pens.

  8. Sterile drapes and preparation

    Dressing and instructions

The donor area is dressed; your medication, sleeping position and the next day’s wash are explained.

  9. Hotel room with a view

    Back to the hotel

You return to your hotel by transfer. Your coordinator messages you in the evening to see how you are.

A transfer to the clinic is arranged for the following day’s check-up and first wash.
